What a Commuter Ticket offers

Commuter tickets are ideal for daily commuting over distances of up to 150 km to work or school.

With commuter tickets, it doesn’t matter how often you travel, whether you travel one-way, return, or only on part of your pre-paid route. With a commuter ticket, you can travel as often as you like and repeatedly.

You can select a commuter ticket according to the type of passenger, your preferred term of validity, and the ticket’s transferability.

Commuter tickets can be recorded onto an In Karta card or purchased as paper travel documents. Commuter tickets purchased on an In Karta card are non-transferable. Commuter tickets with a 25% or 50% discount for holders of the IN 25 or IN 50 applications are sold only as non-transferable tickets (they are recorded on an In Karta card).

This ticket cannot be used for intra-regional journeys by Regional trains (Os) and Regional fast trains (Sp) in the territory of the South Moravian Region and the Zlín Region.

Terms and conditions for Commuter Tickets

We offer commuter tickets for unlimited repeated journeys between the railway stations specified on the ticket, up to a maximum distance of 150 kilometres. Between the two selected stations it is also possible to travel on a different line which is shorter or of equal length, and even in a different direction than that specified on the ticket.

With commuter tickets, it doesn’t matter how often you travel, whether you travel one-way, return, or only on part of your pre-paid route.

Commuter tickets can be purchased for 2nd or 1st class (chidren, juniors, pupils and students, passengers 65 years and older, ZTP or ZTP/P cardholders only for 2nd class) as weekly, monthly or quarterly tickets. Holders of the IN 25 discount on an In Karta card can purchase commuter tickets at a 25% discount. Holders of the IN 50 discounts on an In Karta card receive a 50% discount on commuter tickets for adults.

Commuter tickets can be recorded onto the chip of an In Karta card or purchased as paper travel documents. Commuter tickets purchased on an In Karta card are non-transferable. Commuter tickets with a 25% or 50% discount for holders of the IN 25 or IN 50 applications are sold only as non-transferable tickets recorded on the chip of an In Karta card.

Juniors 15 to 17 years of age demonstrate eligibility for a reduced price for Commuter tickets with a personal identity card, student ID card, ISIC card or other official card or carrier issued card containing the current photo and the first and last name and date of birth of the passenger. The entitlement may also be proved by the expired card.

Pupils and students 18 to 25 years of age demonstrate their eligibility for a reduced price for Commuter tickets with a valid student identification card or valid ISIC card.

Passengers 65 years and older demonstrate eligibility for a reduced price for Commuter tickets with a personal identity card or other official card or carrier issued card containing the current photo and the first and last name and date of birth of the passenger

ZTP or ZTP/P cardholders demonstrate eligibility for a reduced price for Commuter tickets with a ZTP or ZTP/P card.

Where to purchase a commuter ticket

We sell commuter tickets at ČD ticket counters and in the ČD e-shop. Commuter tickets purchased in the ČD e-shop are not recorded onto the chip of an In Karta card. After purchasing a commuter ticket, it is necessary to subsequently perform an update of the In Karta card at a ČD ticket counter. On the train, it is only possible to purchase weekly commuter tickets from the conductor, and only from stations where there is no ČD ticket counter (or where the ticket counter was closed at the time the train was boarded). It is possible to purchase commuter tickets in advance sales at ČD ticket counters in railway stations or online.

Is it possible to record a weekly commuter ticket onto an In Karta card?

Yes. It is possible to record weekly, monthly and quarterly tickets for the basic price on an In Karta card as well (e.g. on an In Karta card after the expiration of the original IN 25 customer application). Weekly, monthly and quarterly tickets with a 25% or 50% discount thanks to the IN 25, IN 50 or IN Senior application must always be recorded onto an In Karta card, and these tickets are then non-transferable (linked to the name of the In Karta cardholder).

Is a commuter ticket recorded on an In Karta card transferable?

No. It can only be used by the holder of the In Karta card on which the commuter ticket is recorded.

Can I purchase a transferable customer monthly commuter ticket?

No. Weekly, monthly and quarterly tickets with a 25% or 50% discount thanks to the IN 25, IN 50 or IN Senior application must always be recorded onto an In Karta card, and these tickets are then non-transferable (linked to the name of the In Karta cardholder).

My In Karta card will expire in one month, but I want to purchase a three-month commuter ticket. How should I proceed?

Purchase the commuter ticket for your current In Karta card, and no later than on the last day of your original In Karta card’s term of validity (specified in the lower right corner) request a duplicate In Karta card. The portion of the commuter ticket which “did not fit” on your original In Karta card will be automatically recorded onto the newly issued duplicate of your In Karta card.
