Premium and bonus services in 1st class

In 1st class or business class of all higher quality Czech Railways trains, you are taken care of by conductors, catering company stewards, and in some cases also Czech Railways stewardesses. On-board staff will offer you premium services after boarding the 1st class carriage. In 1st class of SC Pendolino trains and in business compartments of railjet trains, you will receive bonus services in addition to premium services free of charge.

Station services for 1st class passengers

To purchase a 1st class ticket, you can use the priority check-in ticket counters at selected stations. With a 1st class ticket, you can use the comfortable ČD Lounge waiting rooms at selected stations. ČD Lounges are available at the railway stations Praha hl. n., Olomouc hl. n., Ostrava-Svinov, Ostrava hl. n., Břeclav and Brno hl. n. You can relax in them before continuing your train journey or read the daily press. In some ČD Lounges, your children can have fun in the play corners, which we have set up and equipped with aids and toys. We also offer free internet access in ČD Lounges.

How to find 1st class

You can easily recognize 1st class carriages by the yellow stripe above the windows and the number "1" near the entrance doors. 1st class compartments are also marked with the number "1".

Tickets for 1st class

To travel in 1st class, it is necessary to purchase tickets valid in this carriage class. If you are traveling in 1st class from the departure station to the destination station, you can purchase a 1st class ticket for the entire journey. If you use 1st class only for part of the journey (for example, you change to a passenger train that does not offer 1st class along the way), you buy a 2nd class Flexi ticket for your entire journey and a one-time surcharge to 1st class for the part of the journey where you will travel in 1st class. You can purchase a one-time surcharge to 1st class in advance at the ČD ticket counter or from the conductor on the train, without a handling surcharge. If you travel in 1st class more often, it may be worth purchasing a time-based surcharge to 1st class instead of one-time surcharges.

The basic 1st class Flexi fare is approximately 30% more expensive than the basic 2nd class Flexi fare. For route tickets for daily commuting, 1st class tickets are approximately 20% more expensive than 2nd class tickets. When traveling in 1st class, you can use some of the discounts provided, but some discounts cannot be used in 1st class. In 1st class, you also cannot use some discounted tickets for 2nd class (for example, the Flexi discounted ticket or the Vázaná jízdenka); for these tickets, it is necessary to pay the entire difference between the 1st class ticket and the price paid for the 2nd class ticket throughout the route.

Tickets and discounts applicable in 1st class of ČD trains

For the listed types of tickets and discounts, a separate price for 1st class and conditions for use in 1st class are always set. If you purchase one of the listed tickets for 2nd class, you can purchase a one-time surcharge to 1st class or use a time-based surcharge to 1st class.

One-time surcharge to 1st class

You can purchase a one-time surcharge to 1st class in advance at the ČD ticket counter or from the conductor on the train, without a handling surcharge. The price of the surcharge is calculated as the difference between the price of a 1st class ticket and the price of a 2nd class ticket in the section where you will use 1st class. If a surcharge is not possible for the type of fare used, it is necessary to pay for a new 1st class ticket.

Time-based surcharge to 1st class

For frequent use of 1st class, you can purchase a time-based surcharge to 1st class for a selected period of time (week, month, 3 months or year), which is loaded as an application onto the In Karta. You can purchase a time-based surcharge to 1st class for an existing In Karta or you can purchase a new In Karta with only a time-based surcharge to 1st class. The time-based surcharge cannot be used for tickets with Discounted Fare (so-called state discounts), ČD business offers with a discount on discounted fare, SJT tickets with a discount on discounted fare and discounted IDS tickets.

Relax in 1st class on your way home from work

You can purchase a one-time surcharge to 1st class for a non-discounted integrated transport system (IDS) ticket valid on ČD trains. You can purchase a one-time surcharge to 1st class for a non-discounted IDS ticket for a single journey or for a non-discounted IDS time ticket (i.e. for a "season ticket", for example a monthly IDS ticket) at the ČD ticket counter or from the conductor directly on the train. The one-time surcharge to 1st class is valid only for one journey with an IDS ticket, the number of which is stated on it.

To work every day in 1st class with a time-based surcharge on the In Karta

For a non-discounted integrated transport system (IDS) ticket valid on ČD trains (for a single journey ticket or a time ticket - e.g. monthly IDS ticket), you can use a time-based surcharge to 1st class on the In Karta. Thanks to the combination of a non-discounted IDS ticket and a time-based surcharge, you can comfortably commute to work every day.

Seat reservations for 1st class

For SuperCity trains and for business compartments of railjet trains and other compulsorily reserved trains, it is always necessary to purchase a seat reservation, SC seat reservation or railjet business seat reservation, which are sold in the price range from CZK 0 to CZK 500. Seat reservation prices depend on the day the seat reservation is purchased, the day of travel, the train used and the remaining number of free seats. The price of the SC seat reservation for 1st class and the railjet business seat reservation includes bonus services. For other non-compulsory reserved trains, the price of a seat reservation is the same for 2nd class and 1st class at CZK 35, in the ČD e-shop you get a seat reservation free of charge with the simultaneous purchase of a ticket. No further discounts are provided from the price of the seat reservation.

Prices of 1st class tickets

The fare depends on the tariff distance and the chosen carriage class. The tariff distance is determined for the actual transport route between railway tariff points (railway stations) according to the kilometers stated in the timetable of the railway operator and is at least 1 kilometer and a maximum of 600 kilometers.

When using 1st class only for part of the route or in several different sections, separate surcharges to 1st class for all sections in which you use 1st class are added to the price of the 2nd class Flexi ticket for the entire route.
